At Lakshimi Chowk restaurant, the inspector found raw chicken stored above ground beef, eggs stored above butter, and other raw animal food improperly stored in multiple coolers. The restaurant was reminded to store raw animal foods below ready-to-eat foods and store raw animal food with lower cook temperatures above raw animal foods with higher cook temperatures.

The inspector reported multiple violations during a Feb. 12 inspection of Chennai Express Restaurant & Catering. The equipment surfaces throughout the kitchen were found to be in need of "detailed cleaning," the inspector reported. Also, light shields throughout kitchen had a build-up of debris. The inspector also noted that the dishroom area and hand sink were unclean. Finally, an employee was observed leaving the bathroom and going back to work in the kitchen without washing hands.

At Akmal's Kitchen in Ashburn, the inspector noticed the facility's backdoor was open and nobody was inside. The inspector called the owner and left a message. The inspector waited onsite for about 15 to 20 minutes to hear back.

"In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations," according to Virginia Department of Health's website.
