ASHBURN, VA — Local health officials recently inspected food preparation and storage at food establishments in Ashburn. During the period from Dec. 20, 2019 to Jan. 7, 2020, inspectors found a total of 15 violations at four restaurants and eateries in Ashburn.
Health inspectors said they observed fruit and sewer flies all over the kitchen and bar at Baker's Crust Artisan Kitchen in Ashburn. The restaurant was instructed to address the conditions that allow fruit flies to gather in areas of the restaurant. The inspector also told the restaurant to work with a licensed pest control company. The conditions should be corrected within 10 days or before a follow-up inspection, the health official said.

At Rock N' Claws in Ashburn, an inspector observed food handlers without hair restraints.
"In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations," according to Virginia Department of Health's website.
