Ashburn Restaurant Inspections: WOW Diner, Pazzo Pomodoro, More

ASHBURN, VA — Local health officials recently inspected food preparation and storage at food establishments in Ashburn. During the period from Dec. 16 to Dec. 27, 2019, inspectors found a total of 40 violations at 10 restaurants in Ashburn.

Among the nine violations at Pazzo Pomodoro, a dishwashing machine was failing to sanitize food utensils, according to health officials. The restaurant was instructed to stop using the dishwasher until it can verify it is sanitizing utensils.

Inspectors also reported nine violations at WOW Diner, located on Route 7 in Ashburn. No one at the restaurant was able to answer temperature questions correctly, health officials said. During the inspection, the hand sink near the grill was blocked. The inspector also observed an employee take food back from a customer after it had left the building because it was the wrong order. The restaurant then offered the same returned food to another customer.

"In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations," according to Virginia Department of Health's website.
