ASHBURN, VA — Residents and staff members at the Tribute At One Loudoun assisted living facility in Ashburn received their first shots of the coronavirus vaccine on Monday as Phase 1b of the distribution process continues across Virginia.

The vaccination clinic was the first at the facility which has partnered with CVS to administer the doses of the Pfizer vaccine. A second clinic will be held there in mid-February, officials said. A total of 130 doses were administered to residents and staff during Monday's clinic.

“We are so very excited to see this first phase of vaccinations for our community,” Zoie Barcus, executive director at Tribute at One Loudoun said in a news release. “We have appreciated the continued support and encouragement from our friends and families during this pandemic, and we will continue to do our best to keep our residents and team members safe.”

Loudoun County officials implored local residents to be patient last week as officials are seeing nearly five times the number of requests for vaccination appointments as there are doses available. Officials said that they have received more than 50,000 requests for appointments and have received significantly less doses locally and do not know how quickly they will receive more. County officials anticipate needing until the end of March to accommodate everyone who is on the Phase 1a and 1b priority lists around the county.
