Belmont Ridge Middle Presents "The Hunchback of Notre Dame"

Belmont Ridge Middle School’s talented teens put on a show that will take audiences on a magical journey to 15th-century Paris

Leesburg, Va., -- Belmont Ridge Middle School’s River Hawk Productions will bring audiences a moving tale of love, acceptance, and true heroism as it presents “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, the musical, on April 13th, 14th and 15th and April 19th, 20th and 21st.

“The Hunchback of Notre Dame” tells the story of Quasimodo, the deformed bell-ringer who is being held captive by his duplicitous caretaker, Dom Claude Frollo, in 15th-century Paris. While observing all of Paris turning the city “Topsy Turvy” during the Feast of Fools, Quasimodo longs to be “Out There” and escapes for the day to join the crowd, only to be treated cruelly by all except Esmerelda, a beautiful gypsy. But Quasimodo isn’t the only one charmed by her free spirit and beauty; the handsome Captain Phoebus de Martin is equally enchanted. As the two vie for her attention, Frollo sets out to destroy the gypsies – and it’s up to Quasimodo and his friends (the Gargoyles of Notre Dame) to save them all!

“I have never been more excited to direct a show than I am for ‘Hunchback’. This show encompasses so much of the very best of our previous shows,” says executive director Jason Paul Augustowski. “With gorgeous music (most in four-to six-part harmony), incredible acting and dancing talent, and the biggest and most breathtaking sets we have ever built, Victor Hugo’s novel comes to life featuring all of the songs you and your family loved from the original Disney film”. Vocal director Jill Kerr and student director Gabi David (8th grade) round out the direction team. The cast and crew comprise more than 170 students.
