Briar Woods' Kapa participates in summer leadership program
BWHS junior Namitha Kapa only Loudoun high schooler to take part in Bank of America Student Leaders program held June 22 through July 31

Namitha Kapa took part in the selective Bank of America Student Leaders® program June 22 through July 31, a paid internship for approximately 300 juniors and seniors across the country with a demonstrated aptitude for leadership.
Kapa attends Briar Woods High School in the eastern Loudoun community of Brambleton. She is her school's Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) president. She also serves as president of Comfort Cases, which provides foster-care children with needs like backpacks and other items. The organization distributed 1,000 backpacks in their most recent drive.
The #BofAStudentLeaders program trains promising young leaders in advanced leadership skills while building connections to launch their future aspirations. The annual program had been scheduled to culminate with its usual national leadership summit in Washington, D.C., but in light of health concerns that remain in local communities, the program was adapted to a virtual format.

Student Leaders participated in sessions about the vital role nonprofits play in advancing community health and the importance of public private partnerships to advance social change, with a focus on building financial acumen. A national summit was held online on July 31.
Bank of America Student Leaders participate in programming that leverages Bank of America’s national partnerships and expertise and works closely with the bank’s leadership and nonprofit partners in Greater Washington. Student Leaders participate in collaborative, mentoring-focused projects and engage in conversations focused on social justice, civil rights and how to build a more diverse and inclusive society. In addition, they gain a better understanding of personal finances through Better Money Habits®, Bank of America’s financial wellness and education platform.
