Carjacking Goes Bad For Leesburg Man: Police
The victim jumped out of the car while it was moving, says the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

STERLING, VA — A Leesburg man is behind bars after trying to carjack a vehicle Sunday night while the driver was still in the driver's seat, says the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. The victim, an unidentified woman, escaped the car by jumping out of it while it was moving, according to a poice report.
Edwin Vanegas-Luna, 24, is being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on charges of carjacking, public intoxication and obstruction of justice.
At 11:05 p.m. Sunday, deputies were called to a restaurant in the 46000 block of Community Plaza in Sterling. The suspect and the victim know each other; the victim told deputies that Vanegas-Luna seized her keys while sitting on her in the driver’s seat.

He then started driving the car while sitting on top of the woman, taking control while it was in motion, the police report said. After the victim jumped out, Vanegas-Luna fled in the car.
Deputies found him with other occupants of the vehicle a short time later. One of the occupants, Lina Alvarado-Guzman, 18, of Sterling, was arrested and charged with public intoxication and obstruction of justice. She was released from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on an unsecured bond.
