Chesterbrook Academy Students Donate Food and Toys to Locals
Students from Chesterbrook Academy Preschool Brambleton in Ashburn held food and toy drives, as well as made cards for local seniors
Students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool Brambleton in Ashburn recently donated nearly 400 pounds of food to Loudoun Hunger Relief and 50 toys to Toys for Tots. In addition, students donated more than 50 handwritten cards to seniors at the Leesburg Senior Center. Through these initiatives, students learned the importance of giving back to those in need, especially during the holiday season.
Toys for Tots, a 70-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, provides happiness and hope to less fortunate children during each holiday season. The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by Marines and volunteers offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime.
Loudoun Hunger Relief (LHR), formerly Loudoun Interfaith Relief, is the largest food pantry in Loudoun County. Last year, LHR provided 1.2 million pounds of food to more than 8,000 individuals. Forty percent of those served are children. LHR distributes food to families six days a week, year-round.
