Chesterbrook Academy Students Donate Toys & Food to Those in Need

Students held a gift drive in support of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program and a food drive for Loudoun Hunger Relief

Students at Chesterbrook Academy Preschool Brambleton II in Ashburn recently donated more than 30 toys to Toys for Tots, a gift drive run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, as well as more than 150 food items to Loudoun Hunger Relief, a local food pantry. Over the past month, students worked together to collect the items to benefit local children and families in need. Students also participated in a Holidays Around the World Celebration, where each class studied a different country and learned about the food, games, culture and celebrations that occur in that country. Through this initiative, students learned the importance of helping others and giving back to the community, especially during the holiday season.

Toys for Tots, a 70-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve, provides happiness and hope to less fortunate children during each holiday season. The toys, books and other gifts collected and distributed by Marines and volunteers offer these children recognition, confidence and a positive memory for a lifetime.

Loudoun Hunger Relief (LHR), formerly Loudoun Interfaith Relief, is the largest food pantry in Loudoun County. Last year, LHR provided 1.2 million pounds of food to more than 8,000 individuals. Forty percent of those served are children. LHR distributes food to families six days a week, year-round.
