Comedians Take Center Stage At Ashburn Brewery
A comedy show, with Last Comic Standing finalist Louis Ramey, is coming to Ashburn at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21.

ASHBURN, VA — A comedy show, headlined by Last Comic Standing finalist Louis Ramey, is coming to the Old Ox Brewery in Ashburn at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 21. Ramey has starred in his own Comedy Central special and has appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno and at the Just for Laughs comedy festival.
Joining Ramey at Old Ox Brewery at Saturday night's show will be Northern Virginia-based comedian Lucas Bohn, a former fifth-grade teacher at Rolling Ridge Elementary School in Sterling who turned to stand-up comedy as a full-time job in 2010.
Bohn has been organizing monthly comedy shows at the Old Ox Brewery over the past year. The Ashburn venue holds about 140 people, creating an intimate setting between the audience and the comedians.

When the Old Ox Brewery started holding the monthly comedy shows, Bohn didn't know how the audience would react. The strong attendance at the past year's shows has demonstrated that the Asbhurn area is hungry for live entertainment.
"Other than One Loudoun, there's not a lot of live entertainment in the Ashburn area," Bohn told Patch. "We've had people come back every single month to see the shows."

For Northern Virginia residents, a show at the Old Ox Brewery can be easier and cheaper than going to shows in D.C. "They come in, grab a couple beers. They see an awesome show. It's not far from their homes. You don't have to pay to park," he said.
Bohn and his sister's husband founded a company called Bojo Entertainment that promotes and puts together the monthly shows at the Old Ox Brewery. They bring in comedy talent from across the country, like Louis Ramey, along with local comedians. Upon coming up with the idea for the company, Bohn's brother-in-law stated: "You know comics. I know how to market. Let's do a business."
His brother-in-law handles the paperwork, pays the performers and maintains the website for Bojo Entertainment, while Bohn reaches out to talent to appear at the Old Ox Brewery. "I know how to run a show," he said.
Bohn, who lives with his wife and children in Reston, performed on a cruise ship a week prior to the Dec. 21 show and goes back out on a cruise ship to perform starting Dec. 28. He usually tries to find a weekend when he's not traveling to do a show at Old Ox Brewery.
Bohn describes his comedy as an "everyday guy that talks about everyday stuff." He tries to hire comedians whose routines are mostly clean, although there may be an occasional curse word. "Do people say cuss words? Of course they do. But it's not gratuitous. They're not saying a cuss word every two seconds," he said.
Over the past year, all of the shows at Old Ox Brewery, except one, have sold out. Bohn recommends people buy their tickets early and not try to buy tickets at the door on the night of the show because they may get sent away disappointed.
The Old Ox Brewery is located at 44652 Guilford Dr #114 in Ashburn. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased online from Bojo Entertainment.
