Patch: How long have you been doing business in town?
Cain: Elements Massage has been located in Ashburn Village since September of 2013. I have been involved since the doors opened as a guide and consultant, but stepped in more directly in July of 2017.

Patch: What attracted you to the line of work you’re in, and how did you get started?
Cain: A few years after college, I found that the corporate life was not for me and wanted something a little more personal and down to earth. I had always been drawn to the medical field, but never thought I had the aptitude for it. I discovered massage when visiting a massage school with a friend who was considering the field for himself. I sat in on a class, fell in love with the subject and signed up for the classes immediately. The Anatomy, Kinesiology and Physiology all clicked for me right away and I felt like I had found myself, and my calling. I’ve dedicated my life to the healing arts from that point on. I performed well enough as a student that the school asked me to come back as a teaching assistant immediately after graduation, which in turn led to eight years in the massage education field.
Patch: If you had to sum up your business mission to a stranger in five words, what would those words be?
Cain: Making health and wellness affordable.
Patch: What’s the biggest challenge or most difficult moment you’ve faced in your job?
Cain: Having spent years as a massage therapist, one of the biggest challenges is separating “Brandon” from the “Studio Manager.” The massage community is very small and tight-knit, and I have many employees that I have known for years outside of the business — some who I trained myself, and others who I have worked with in various aspects of the industry. Knowing when to put on the “boss” hat, and when to put on the “friend” hat is a daily balance. We all agree to leave the outside life at the door every day, and I am blessed to have a staff that respects me enough to strip away the layers and see me as just the boss. This also helps my staff to feel that they can approach me with anything — and they don’t hold their tongues when they need to give me their opinion on my management. The dynamic has helped me to grow and learn as both a leader, and as a friend.
Patch: What’s the most satisfying part of your job?
Cain: The most satisfying part of my job is knowing that we gave a client the perfect experience that they were looking for. I love to know that a guest has left us feeling more complete, less stressed and in less pain than when they walked in the door.
Patch: How would you say your business distinguishes itself from the others?
Cain: We pride ourselves on customizing each session to the individual. There is no “cookie-cutter” massage here. During booking, our front desk staff will ask questions and pair you up with the best massage therapist for your needs. When you arrive, you will fill out an intake form and then have a brief consultation with both the therapist and desk staff to make sure we are customizing the time to your needs and addressing every area that has been indicated to us.
Patch: What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given when it comes to success?
Cain: There is a quote that I keep in mind. It reminds me every day to keep a positive attitude, always move forward, and that the first step is belief in myself. “In order to succeed, we must first believe that we can.” – Nikos Kazantzakis
Patch: Are there any new projects or endeavors you’re working on that you’re extra excited about?
Cain: We are happy to introduce our new Herbal Ritual. It’s a hemp-infused therapeutic massage. Studies show that CBD derived from Hemp helps alleviate pain, ease soreness and reduces stress and anxiety. Hemp-based CBD products at Elements Massage have 0% THC and are applied topically, so there are no psychoactive effects.
Coming soon, we will be introducing Cupping Therapy. Cupping therapy is a traditional, time-honored practice that utilizes the techniques of negative pressure rather than tissue compression. Suction cups are used to help relieve aching muscles, release joint stiffness, reduce inflammation, and provides relief for many acute and chronic conditions.
Patch: Do you have any events coming up in your community?
Cain: We will be working with The Real Ladies of Loudoun County to provide Chair Massage at their Networking Brunch Social series, beginning on June 30. The Real Ladies of Loudoun County is a Facebook group which was created in 2014, to provide local women a place to connect and support one another. Since then, they have grown to over 28,000 women and pride themselves on being the go-to group for all things in Loudoun County!
They continue building and strengthening our community by providing opportunities to bond and come together; such as, hosting events for networking, family gatherings, retreats, supporting local charities, and showcasing local businesses. We are very excited to join them for the opportunity to meet the ladies of our community and make new friends; and, are always looking for more opportunities to get involved, or to give back to our community.
