Fire Damages Sterling Apartments, 4 Treated For Smoke Inhalation
A fire damaged 14 apartments Friday in Sterling, causing one resident and three deputies to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
STERLING, VA — A fire damaged 14 apartments Friday morning in Sterling, causing one resident and three sheriff’s deputies to be taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. The Loudoun County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Around 10:15 a.m. on Friday, fire and rescue units from Sterling Park, Cascades, Kincora, Ashburn, Moorefield and Fairfax County were dispatched to 1220 Chase Heritage Circle in Sterling for a reported structure fire. The Loudoun County Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a fire and smoke on the third floor of the apartment building.
When firefighters arrived on the scene, the three-story apartment building had heavy fire and smoke on the third floor that was rapidly moving to the roof.

Residents were being evacuated upon arrival of first responders and a quick search confirmed all occupants were out of the structure, according to Loudoun Fire and Rescue. Fourteen apartments were damaged in the fire.
Firefighters remained on the scene extinguishing hot spots and assisting the Fire Marshal’s Office investigation.

The American Red Cross aided the displaced residents. Along with the one resident, three Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies who assisted in evacuating residents were treated at local area hospitals for minor smoke inhalation.
