IPS To Host Open House January 23rd
The Institute for Psychological Services is ready to serve Loudoun

Divine Mercy University made its big move over the summer to its new home campus in Loudoun County after spending its first 20 years in the Crystal City area. On January 23rd, the university’s IPS Center for Psychological Services will be hosting an open house and introduce its services to the community.
“We are very pleased to share the services of the IPS Center, the teaching and training clinic of the The Institute for the Psychological Sciences (IPS) at Divine Mercy University,” said university president Fr. Charles Sikorsky, L.C. “The IPS Center has been providing low-cost outpatient mental health services since 2000, providing support and treatment to thousands of individuals who otherwise would not be able to afford mental health care.”
The clinic provides a variety of psychological services, including psychological assessments and psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. The center is staffed by doctoral level trainees who receive regular supervision from licensed psychologists consistent with the American Psychology Association (APA) standards of accreditation.

“Our clinicians are trained to treat a variety of concerns including anxiety and panic disorders, depression and mood disorders, self-esteem and adjustment issues, relationship difficulties, parenting and child behavior management,” said Fr. Sikorsky. “One distinguishing feature to our training program is that our students receive instruction in child centered play therapy and marital therapy. They also receive training in a wide variety of modalities including psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and interpersonal theory.”
The IPS Center is committed to providing the community high quality, affordable mental health services consistent with Catholic-Christian understanding of the person, marriage, and family life. At the heart of such treatment is a deep respect for the dignity of each person and a commitment to providing appropriate state-of-the-art services within the context of each individual’s culture, race, religion and socio-economic status.

Many of the IPS Center’s patients are self-referred, but patient referrals from physicians, psychiatrists, and other mental health providers are also accepted. If you ever need a referral for a very low cost mental health care service in the D.C./Maryland/Virginia area, please keep IPS in mind.
If you have any questions about the IPS Center’s services or want to schedule an appointment, please do not hesitate to call us at (703) 418-2111. RSVPs for the open house should be emailed to ipscenter@divinemercy.edu.
