Loudoun Company Simplifies Charging For Electric Vehicle Owners
Effortless Electric simplifies the process for installing electric vehicle charging systems at homes and businesses in the D.C. area.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A new Loudoun County-based electric vehicle charger installation company is making inroads in the Washington, D.C. area as a growing number of residents are looking for the most efficient and fastest way to charge the batteries in their electric vehicles.
Effortless Electric, headquartered in Sterling, can simplify the process for installing electric vehicle charging systems at homes and businesses in the area. Along with helping its customers choose the appropriate charging system, the company handles the electrical and permit work at the home or business, along with researching electric vehicle incentives at the federal and state levels.
A federal tax credit, for example, currently gives individuals a 30-percent credit off the purchase and installation of the JuiceBox Charger. In order to qualify, though, the charger must be purchased and installed by Dec. 31, followed by the credit being claimed on the customer's federal tax return for 2020.

California remains the largest market by far for electric vehicles. But the industry is growing along the East Coast, including in the D.C. area., which has seen a surge in electric vehicle purchases in recent years.
As a nascent industry in most of the country, confusion surrounds batteries and charging systems. Founded earlier this year, Effortless Electric's goal is to simplify the process for customers.

Effortless Electric owner Justin Mauch said the company's goal is to install more than 500 vehicle charging systems in 2021. "Our focus is residential customers, but also target commercial sales channels," Mauch said in an email to Patch.
“Instead of only understanding electrical system needs, we keep up to date on all new plug-in vehicles coming to market so we understand the needs from the car’s side as well,” said Mauch, a former professional cyclist, who once stood on the podium above Lance Armstrong.
Among Level 1 and Level 2 charging systems, Effortless Electric said it believes Level 2 is best for residential customers. A Level 2 fast-charging systems can recharge a car's battery up to nine times faster than a traditional 120-volt wall outlet, dropping charge times from more than 55 hours to about eight hours, the company said.
A Level 1 charger could be sufficient for people relying on their car for short daily commutes. However, they would constantly be running the risk of running out of battery, according to the company. A Level 2 charger allows electric vehicle owners to fully charge their batteries overnight and lets them use their vehicles’ full battery range each day.
The company carries an inventory of the JuiceBox charging system and will also install other manufacturers' chargers, such as OEM Tesla Chargers and Porsche Chargers.
Building out electric vehicle charging infrastructure will be key to whether the electric vehicle industry continues to grow. As the number of electric vehicles on the road increases, businesses with charging stations in their parking lot or garage can help attract electric vehicle drivers.
“If you’re an EV driver choosing between two similar businesses and one offers EV charging, you’re more likely to choose the business with an EV charger," said Eve Maxson, who works in Effortless Electric's business development office.
