Loudoun County July 4th Celebrations Postponed Due To Coronavirus

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – Fourth of July celebrations in Loudoun County have been postponed due to guidance and restrictions in place to help stop the spread of the new coronavirus.

"We regret that these popular events hosted by Claude Moore Park, Franklin, Park, Lovettsville Community Center and Sterling Community Center cannot be held in July," said Steve Torpy, Director of PRCS, in a prepared statement. "However, the safety of our citizens and staff is always our first priority."

Torpy said if Northern Virginia enters reopening Phase 3 by Labor Day weekend, community celebrations will be held then.

The town if Leesburg has also announced its Fourth of July celebration has been canceled. The celebrations typically include a parade, concert at Ida Lee Park and a fireworks display.

Leesburg Town Manager Kaj Dentler said the town would need to be in Phase 3 in order to hold the annual festivities.

"Even if we enter Phase 1 next week, it is unlikely we will be in Phase 3 by early July," Dentler said. "We are disappointed, but feel that it is in the best interest of the health and safety of our community."
