Due to inclement weather, the Loudoun South Little League team will play their first game in the 2019 Little League World Series Friday morning at 10 a.m. The team was originally scheduled to play Thursday afternoon.
Loudoun South advanced to the Little League World Series last week with a 12-2 Southeast Regional Championship victory over Peachtree City, Ga. Now, the team will be the first team from Virginia in 25 years to participate in the series when it travels to Pennsylvania Thursday to play Barrington, R.I.
Only 16 teams make it to the annual event in Williamsport, Pa. — eight U.S. teams and eight international teams, InsideNoVA reports. Loudoun South plays Barrington, winners of the New England Regional Championship. Fans can watch Loudoun South’s debut at the opening game of the Little League World Series on ESPN.
