Need-to-Know Dates for Parents of Loudoun County Students

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — With school back in session, parents and children need to be aware of the upcoming student holidays in Loudoun County Public Schools. Here are the need-to-know dates to mark on your calendars for the 2016-2017 academic year:

1st 9 Week Grading Period (ends Nov. 4):

• October 10: Holiday (Columbus Day)

2nd 9 Week Grading Period (ends Jan. 26):

• November 7-8: Student Holiday (Planning/Records/Conference Days)
• November 23-25: Holiday (Thanksgiving)
• December 22-30: WINTER BREAK
• January 2: Holiday (New Year’s) (Classes Resume January 3)
• January 16: Holiday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)

3rd 9 Week Grading Period (ends April 6):

• January 27: MOVEABLE STUDENT HOLIDAY**(Planning/Records/Conference Day)
• February 20: Holiday (Presidents’ Day)

4th 9 Week Grading Period (ends June 9):

• April 7: Student Holiday (Planning/Records/Conference Day)
• April 10-14: SPRING BREAK
• May 29: Holiday (Memorial Day)
• June 9: Last Day of School for Students

**Parents with childcare or other weekday scheduling concerns – The date of this MOVEABLE
Planning/Records/Conference Day between first and second semesters may change, if the school calendar
changes due to school closings for inclement weather or other emergencies. Parents with childcare or
other scheduling concerns should be prepared.
