New Lidl Grocery Store Coming To Sterling's Sugarland Crossing

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A new Lidl grocery store will open in Sterling this month. The new store, located at 47100 Community Plaza, will host a grand opening event on Wednesday, May 12 to celebrate the occasion.

The grand opening event will last from 7 a.m. until 7:30 a.m. on May 12. Special offers will be available to customers who attend the event, according to a news release from Lidl.

The first 100 customers at the opening will receive special gift cards, with values ranging from $5 to $100. Shoppers can also enter one of the store's giveaways, including a chance to win a $500 Lidl gift card.

Buddy Rizer is the economic development director in Loudoun County. "Lidl is a leader, not just in making quality, affordable groceries available for Loudoun residents, but also in their company values," Rizer said. "Months before COVID-19 struck, they were forward-thinking in extending medical benefits to all employees, regardless of hours worked. The Sugarland Crossing location is the third Lidl in Loudoun County. In total, the international grocery chain operates more than 2o stores across the Washington D.C. area, including locations in Ashburn, Woodbridge, and Springfield.

Lidl locations pride themselves on low prices and quality products, the brand said in a news release. In addition to groceries, the store will offer a rotating selection of fitness gear, small appliances, toys, and outdoor furniture.
