Northern Virginia's weather during the work week begins OK before taking a turn toward more traditional December weather, snow included.

STERLING, VA—After beginning with one more day of mild temperatures, Northern Virginia's weather for the week gets considerably colder—albeit amid plenty of sunshine. That's the word from the National Weather Service and other area forecasting outlets.

We're talking highs in the mid-40s and lows in the upper-20s for the rest of the week. Not only that, but per the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang: "Can't rule out a flurry or snow shower Wednesday morning." So there you go. Sunday Night: Scattered showers before 10pm. Patchy fog before 1am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 46. Southwest wind 9 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 59. West wind 9 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
