Northern Virginia Weather: Cold Weekend With Light Snow Threat

STERLING, VA—Sunday remains the wildcard for an otherwise cold and dry Northern Virginia weekend, with snow looking less likely than it did a few days ago. So says the National Weather Service and other area forecasting outlets.

Here's the take of the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang regarding Sunday: "We may get some snowflakes in this area, but if so, they won't amount to a whole lot. Best odds of that are south of town." Might that include Fredericksburg? Not really, says the Richmond Times-Dispatch: "The heaviest amounts of snow with this system will fall to the southwest of the Richmond region, across the southern Appalachians and parts of the western Piedmont."

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Northwest wind 3 to 7 mph.
