Northern Virginia Weather: Work Week Has Much To Like

STERLING, VA—This certainly has to be one of the more welcome work-week weather forecasts folks in the Northern Virginia area have seen in quite a while, perhaps even months. We're talking about relatively warm temperatures during the day, lows well above freezing—for the most part—and lots of sunshine. That's the word from the National Weather Service and other area forecasting outlets.

Monday's highs should be around 60 as cloud cover gradually abates. After that, according to the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang: "Cooler high pressure sits overhead Tuesday and Wednesday. “Cooler” is a relative term, however, as temperatures run right around where they should be this time of year."

Monday: Cloudy through mid morning, then gradual clearing, with a high near 58. West wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Monday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 34. Northwest wind 8 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 48. Northwest wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph.

Tuesday Night: Clear, with a low around 30. Northwest wind 5 to 8 mph becoming calm after midnight.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 52.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 39.

Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers after 9pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
