Opiate Addiction Film/Talk Set for Sept. 20 in Ashburn: LCSO

The community is invited to a free screening of 'Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict' and panel discussion on 9/20 in Ashburn.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, — Students, parents and members of the community are invited to join the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO), Fairfax County Police Department, Loudoun County Public Schools, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Attorney's Office Eastern District of Virginia, and Loudoun Department of Mental Health, Substance Abuse and Developmental Services for a special free screening of the "Chasing the Dragon: The Life of an Opiate Addict," according to the LCSO.

The event will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Briar Woods High School, located at 22525 Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn.

Produced by the FBI and the DEA, the 45 minute documentary was designed for youth and young adults to profile the heartbreaking stories of individuals who abused opiates or watched family members fall victim to this destructive addiction.

Following the screening, a panel discussion will be held to provide information on opiates. The panel will include representatives from the DEA, treatment, recovery, law, public policy, education, and families, according to the LCSO.
