Planning Commission Approves 'Ashburn Overlook' Townhouse Subdivision

A plan to rezone 10 acres of land and build 72 townhouse units near Belmont Station Elementary is now heading to the Board of Supervisors.

The Loudoun County Planning Commission voted Tuesday in favor of a plan to rezone 10 acres of land for the Ashburn Overlook project.

The rezoning includes a plan to build up to 72 townhouse units at the southeast corner of Belmont Ridge Road and the W&OD Trail just north of Belmont Station Elementary School.

The county planning and zoning staff recommended the planning commission forward the application to a work session for discussion of outstanding concerns, which include the costs and benefits of converting the industrial land to residential, proposed transportation proffer contributions, and the design of the townhouse units planned to be built within a reduced building setback along Belmont Ridge Road.
