Public Meeting Nov. 8 to Vote for Loudoun Silver Line Station Names
Loudoun County is holding a second public meeting to name the Route 606 and 772 Silver Line Metro stations under construction.

Loudoun County is holding its second public meeting Saturday, Nov. 8 in connection with the naming of the future Route 606 and Route 772 Silver Line Metro stations.
Members of the public who attend the meeting will have the opportunity to vote for their preferred names for the two stations. The meeting will also feature information about transit and commuting options in Loudoun County, including the Loudoun County Transit Commuter Bus service and the county’s Silver Line bus service.
The meeting will take place Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Discovery Elementary School, located at 44020 Grace Bridge Drive

Names currently under consideration for the stations include:
Route 606 Station

- Dulles Gateway
- Loudoun East
- Loudoun Gateway

Route 772 Station
- Ashburn
- Loudoun

Members of the public may cast their vote for their favorite name online at www.loudoun.gov/stationnames. Online voting will continue through the next four weeks.
According to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) station naming policy, the station names should be:
- “Relevant: Identify station locations by geographical features, centers of activity or be derived from the names of cities, communities, neighborhoods or landmarks within one-half mile (walking distance) of the station;
- “Brief: Limited to 19 characters with spaces and punctuation, including both primary and secondary names;
- “Unique: Distinctive and not easily confused with other station names; and
- “Evocative: Evoke imagery in the mind of the patron.”
