Public Urged to Drop Off Unwanted Prescription Drugs at Collection Units: LCSO
Loudoun residents can drop off unwanted medications in the Drug Collection Units installed in 3 LCSO stations and the Leesburg Police HQ.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Do you have any unneeded prescription medications? The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office (LCSO) reminded residents in a recent post that the medicine can be dropped off at drug collection units at three LCSO Stations and at the Leesburg Police Department headquarters.
The drug collection units are intended to reduce the amount of unneeded medicine in residents’ homes and decrease prescription drug abuse, which has soared in recent years, especially among teenagers, according to the LCSO.
Since the inception of the DEA take-back program in 2010, nearly 8,000 pounds of unwanted and unused prescription medications have been taken off the streets of Loudoun County.

In May 2015, the LCSO announced participation in Safer Communities with CVS to have drug collection boxes located at three LCSO locations. Residents can now dispose of unwanted prescription medication all year long.
