Scam Alert: Various Reports of Attempted Fraud in Loudoun County
The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office has received at least five reports of attempted fraud by phone this week.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office received multiple reports of suspicious events involving potential scammers this week.
Monday, Dec. 15: An Ashburn resident of the 43100 block of Belgreen Drive received a message from a person claiming to be with the IRS. The resident returned the call and began questioning the subject, who later disconnected the call. No monies or personal information was provided to the caller.
Tuesday, Dec. 16: An Ashburn resident of the 21400 block of Golden Autumn Place received a message from a person claiming to be with the IRS. No financial loss was reported.

Thursday, Dec. 18: An Aldie resident of the 24700 block of Byrne Meadow Square resident received a call from a caller claiming their computer needed to be fixed. The resident recognized the call as a potential scam.
An Ashburn resident of the 42500 block of Rockrose Square responded to an online Mystery Shopper ad. They were sent an email and advised they would receive a check that needed to deposit and use the monies to purchase money cards. The resident believed the ad to be a scam.

A Purcellville resident of the 400 block of Dunridge Court received a call from a caller claiming there was a Federal lawsuit to be filed against him. The incident is believed to be a scam.
