Severe Winds May Impact Your Commute

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory. Motorists are urged to be alert for scattered tree and power line damage.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A wind advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) through 7 p.m. tonight, Monday, Jan. 23, in Eastern Loudoun County (including Ashburn, Leesburg, Sterling) and in other areas of Northern Virginia and the DMV region.

According to NWS, 25 mph winds are expected with gusts up to 45 to 55 mph. The strong winds may blow down tree limbs, trees and power lines.

Scattered power outages are expected.

Here's the weather forecast for Eastern Loudoun County for today, Jan. 23:

Rain is expected today with a high temperature near 47 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch are possible.

Tonight rain is likely before 10 p.m., then showers likely, mainly between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m. It is expected to be cloudy, with a low temperature around 38 degrees. A northeast wind of 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph is expected. The chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch are possible.
