Sheriff Seeks Person of Interest in Burglary of Retirement Community Home

Two witnesses say a man matching the sketch knocked on their doors during the time period the burglary took place.

Loudoun County Sheriff's detectives on Thursday released a sketch of a man they wish to talk to in connection with the burglary of a home in a local retirement community back in February.

On Feb. 18, a resident of Falcon's Landing Military Retirement Community in Sterling reported that she believed her home had been burglarized, and that a large amount of jewelry was unaccounted for.

The woman said she believed the incident happened sometime while she was out, between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The woman also reported that just before she left the house, an unknown man came to her door. She said that when she answered the door, the man said he was at the wrong house.

The Sheriff's Office said a similar incident happened on the same day around 12:30 p.m. A man bearing a similar description knocked on a door on Langley Drive, and when the resident answered, the man said he was looking for his dog.

Both residents described the man as having olive-colored skin, being between 5'10" and 6 feet tall, and having short brown hair and a heavy build.

The man was reportedly wearing dark pants, a dark maintenance-style shirt and a jacket bearing no logos.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Detective J. Jeffers of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office at 571-258-3181.
