"Sister Act", the Musical, at Belmont Ridge Middle School

Leesburg, Va., -- Belmont Ridge Middle School’s RiverHawk Productions will bring audiences a hilarious, joyful and sparkling musical comedy when it presents “Sister Act”, the musical, on August 8th, 9th and 10th.

When wannabe diva Deloris Van Cartier witnesses a murder, she is put in a witness protection program in the one place the cops are sure she won't be found: a convent! Under disguise as Sister Mary Clarence, Deloris finds herself at odds with both the strict lifestyle and the watchful Mother Superior. Using her unique disco moves and singing talent to inspire the lackluster convent choir, Deloris breathes new life into the church and community but, in doing so, blows her cover. Soon, the gang chasing Deloris finds themselves up against her and the power of her newly found sisterhood and chaos ensues. Along the way, Deloris helps her fellow “sisters” find their voices, as well as her own. Based on the hit 1992 film, “Sister Act” is the Broadway smash that brings audiences to their feet!

“What I am loving about ‘Sister Act’ is watching these middle school students truly develop believable adult characters,” says Jason Paul Augustowski, RiverHawk’s executive director/choreographer. “It is much easier to play cartoons, and they have worked tirelessly on perfecting the nuances of their real-life characters to provide audiences with a show that will be sure to entertain and astound. Our incredible tech and stage crew round out the experience to ensure we remain properly immersed in fantastic 1970s Philadelphia!” The direction team is rounded out by Jill Kerr (vocals) and Sabrina Rice (student director).

In addition to the fun score, outstanding choreography, and the unrivaled talent of more than 100 cast and crew members, “Sister Act” will feature great costumes, professionally designed sets, and lighting and sound effects from our state-of-the-art boards.
