Suspect Arrested in Greenway Corporate Dr. Armed Robbery

Loudoun County officials arrested a Bristow man Monday following an armed robbery near Greenway Corporate Drive in Ashburn.

Loudoun County police arrested a Bristow man Monday following an armed robbery in the Greenway Corporate Drive area in Ashburn.

Victims told officials they were approached shortly before 11:30 a.m. by a man who brandished a firearm and took their money and a cellphone before fleeing the area on foot.

Following the incident, Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies established a perimeter and began searching the area. The suspect was located around 1 p.m. as he attempted to flee from authorities in the Ashburn Village Boulevard and Dulles Greenway area.

Desmine A. Newton, 20, of Bristow, Va., is charged with robbery, attempted robbery, two counts of obstruction of justice and use of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on no bond.

An investigation is ongoing as Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for the weapon used in the robbery. If you locate this weapon, you are asked to not touch it and immediately call the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office at (703) 777-1021.
