Vacant House in Ashburn Destroyed By Fire

Multiple firefighter units responded to a fire that destroyed a vacant house on Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn. The investigation in ongoing.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A vacant house located on Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn was destroyed in an early morning fire on Nov. 22, according to the Loudoun County Fire & Rescue Department.

Firefighters say that just after 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, fire and rescue units were dispatched to a reported house fire in the 19800 block of Belmont Ridge Road in Ashburn. A passerby had called 9-1-1 to report flames coming from a home near this location.

Multiple firefighters units from Leesburg, Kincora, Moorefield, Lansdowne, Ashburn, Cascades, Hamilton and Fairfax County responded to find a vacant, two-story, single family home with extensive fire and smoke issuing from the structure.

Due to the advanced state of the fire and deteriorated conditions inside the home, crews initiated a defensive fire attack from outside the home.

A significant collapse of the structure made any interior entry unsafe for firefighters.

The fire was extinguished approximately twenty minutes after initial fire and rescue crews arrived although they remained on scene for two hours extinguishing hot spots and assisting the Fire Marshal’s Office.

There were no injuries to fire and rescue personnel.

The Fire Marshal’s investigation is ongoing but damage estimates have been set at $285,000, according to Loudoun County Fire & Rescue.
