LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Pokémon, faked Zombie apocalypse, a singing house and bears in the streets... Loudoun County was a "wild place" in 2016! Jest aside, here is a round-up of some of the unusual Ashburn and Leesburg Patch.com posts from the past year.
Pokemon:
The Pokemon Go craze swept the nation this past summer, including here in Loudoun County. Pokemon hunting became so popular that the Town of Leesburg extended its hours at 3 town parks. Find out more here:

Wild Animals:
Bears were sighted all over Loudoun County in 2016, with one bear seen seemingly going in for a take-out meal at Arby's in Leesburg. Bears are actually quite common to this area but aren't usually seen ambling down the streets in Leesburg and Ashburn as they were this year.

Zombie Apocalypse:
Two Leesburg brothers convinced their younger sister, who was under medication following wisdom teeth surgery, of a zombie apocalypse in April 2016. Check out the amusing video that went viral worldwide:
Singing House:
Loudoun County is home to a "singing house." Well, not really, but the owner of a house in Edwards Landing has illuminated it with thousands of lights that blink in sync to music every year prior to Halloween and Christmas since 2011. This year the house blinked to "Heathen" by Twenty One Pilots and "Handclap" by Fitz and the Tantrums prior to Halloween. Check out the awesome videos here:
