Even without a tax increase, residents in the Braddock District and across Fairfax County would see the average tax bill rise due to increasing assessment values in 2020. The latest property assessments show an average 2.96 percent increase in the Braddock District from 2019, the fourth highest increase among Fairfax County's supervisor districts. The highest average increases were in the Lee District (3.92 percent), Mason District (3.57 percent) and Mount Vernon District (3.08 percent). Nearly 79 percent of residential property countywide saw assessments go up.
The budget proposal also calls for the implementation of a 4 percent admissions tax on the sale of movie, theater and concert tickets, which would take effect in October 2020. Revenue from the Admission Tax would be added to the county's contributing fund and used to support arts, cultural activities, and tourism.
