BURKE, VA—With July 4th just around the corner, it's time to plan which Fourth of July fireworks and festivities you can attend this Independence Day.
While Burke doesn't have its own Fourth of July celebration, there are numerous fireworks shows and other Fourth of July events happening nearby.

What: City of Fairfax Independence Day Parade
Where: Downtown Fairfax, VA

When: July 4, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.
This parade organized by the Delta Alpha Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority has been a tradition since 1967. With marching bands, floats, Shriners' little cars and big motorcycles, old fire engines, clowns and more, it's become the largest Fourth of July parade in Virginia.
What: City of Fairfax Evening Show & Fireworks
Where: Fairfax High School, 3501 Rebel Run, Fairfax, VA
When: July 4, 6:30 p.m.-10:30 p.m.
Enjoy an evening of children's activities beginning at 6:30 p.m., live classic rock songs by the Darby Brothers at 7 p.m. presentation of awards at 8 p.m. and the fireworks at 9:30 p.m. The rain date is July 5 for fireworks only.
What: National Independence Day Parade
Where: Constitution Ave. NW from 7th Street to 17th Street NW, Washington, DC
When: July 4, 11:45 a.m. - 2 p.m.
(Via the National Park Service's website): "Marching bands, fife and drum corps, floats, military units, giant balloons, equestrian, drill teams and more celebrate Independence Day in this patriotic, flag-waving, red, white and blue celebration of America's birthday!"
What: A Capitol Fourth Concert
Where: West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol, Washington, DC
When: July 4, 8 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.
(Via the National Park Service's website): "Co-sponsored by the National Park Service and the National Symphony Orchestra, A Capital Fourth honors our nation's 243rd birthday with an all-star salute of the best in American entertainment. Gates open at 3 p.m." Performers this year include John Stamos, Vanessa Williams, Carole King, Sesame Street, the National Symphony Orchestra, and many more.
What: DC Fireworks Display
Where: National Mall, Washington, DC
When: July 4, 9:07 p.m. - 9:27 p.m.
(Via the National Park Service's website): "Independence Day culminates with a spectacular fireworks display over the National Mall. The fireworks will be launched from West Potomac Park and will be visible from many locations throughout D.C. and Northern Virginia. The fireworks will be cancelled in case of heavy rain, thunderstorms or high winds."
What: An American Celebration at Mount Vernon
Where: George Washington's Mount Vernon, 3200 Mount Vernon Hwy, Mount Vernon, VA
When: July 4, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
Spend Fourth of July at George Washington's home with daytime fireworks, a performance by the National Concert Band, a ceremony for new citizens, military re-enactments and a wreathlaying ceremony. George and Martha Washington will be on hand to greet visitors, and free birthday cake will be served. The event is rain or shine. The price is included in admission to Mount Vernon.
What: Independence Fireworks at Mount Vernon
Where: George Washington's Mount Vernon, 3200 Mount Vernon Hwy, Mount Vernon, VA
When: June 28-29, 6 p.m.-9:45 p.m.
This fireworks show is synchronized with patriotic music. Tickets are $36 with a mansion tour or $30 without a tour for adults. Kids tickets are $26 with a mansion tour and $20 without.
What: Alexandria Birthday Celebration
Where: Oronoco Bay Park, 100 Madison Street Alexandria, VA
When: July 13, 6 p.m.-10 p.m.
Alexandria celebrates its 270 birthday and America’s 243rd birthday in one big celebration. Guests can enjoy a performance by the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, patriotic birthday cake and food vendors. The event culminates in a fireworks show over the Potomac River.
What: Vienna Fireworks Show
Where: Yeonas Park, 1319 Ross Dr SW, Vienna, VA
When: July 4, festivities at 7:15 p.m., fireworks show at 9:30 p.m.
The Town of Vienna's annual fireworks show includes music by the Josh Christina Band, food and non-alcoholic drinks from the Vienna Little League concession stand and food trucks, and the main event sponsored by Navy Federal Credit Union.
What: Sprinklers & Sparklers
Where: Vienna Community Center, 120 Cherry St SE, Vienna, VA
When: July 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
This daytime prelude to the fireworks show features three water slides and other water activities as well as five food trucks and snow cones. Kids (and adults who join in) should expect to get really wet.
