Burke-Based Nonprofit To Host First Virtual Turkey Trot

Keeping Hope Alive VA supports families of children diagnosed with cancer or other life-threatening conditions.

BURKE, VA — A new Burke-based nonprofit serving Northern Virginia families is hosting its inaugural fundraiser: a Turkey Trot Virtual 5K.

Keeping Hope Alive Virginia financially assists Northern Virginia families with children diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening conditions. Examples of assistance are food, gas cards to get to medical treatments, toys for children and their siblings, and gift cards to buy essentials like over-the-counter medications and diapers.

The Turkey Trot is a virtual event, so participants can complete it anytime between Nov. 23 and Dec. 4. It can be done in by walking, biking or any other way you'd like. Registration opened on Oct. 23. A completion form will be sent to participants and should be submitted by noon on Dec. 7. Winners will be announced on Dec. 9.

The cost to participate is $20 for adults and $10 for children ages 5 to 17. Children under 5 are free. Sign up using this Google Form and pay the registration fee through Venmo (@keepinghopealiveva) or PayPal (gail@keepinghopealiveva.org) with the subject "Turkey Trot."
