Burke Family Gives Out Crochet Drink Sleeves To Spread Kindness
Jessica Judkins and her kids regularly hand out free coffee sleeves to encourage random acts of kindness.
BURKE, VA—With the holiday season in full swing, there's no better time to do good deeds in the community. But for Jessica Judkins and her family, spreading joy is something that can be done on a regular basis.
She and her kids regularly hand out free handmade crochet drink sleeves at the Burke Starbucks (6003 Burke Centre Parkway). Typically her kids Judah and Magnolia approach people in line and give out the drink sleeves until they are gone.
The family does this event every five to six months, Judkins told Patch in a Facebook comment. In all, they've handed out over 600 crochet sleeves.

The next giveaway is Saturday, Dec. 8 at 9 a.m. She plans to have at least 70 sleeves, with themes including Harry Potter, Pokémon, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Iron Man, the Simpsons and more.
Judkins has a few rules for the giveaway: one sleeve per person and you must be kind to her kids. The sleeves usually go quickly, so you'll want to get there early.

The family doesn't accept payment but wants people to "encourage it forward" with a random act of kindness. People are asked to share photos using the hashtag #encouragingitforward or on www.facebook.com/mycharmingcolors.
