Day Of Volunteering Planned For MLK Jr. Holiday In Fairfax County

Did you know this year is the 25th annual day of service on Martin Luther King Jr. Day? Here's how to volunteer in Fairfax County.

FAIRFAX, VA — Give Together, a day of volunteerism for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, will return for the 11th year on Monday, Jan. 20 in Fairfax County. Volunteer Fairfax runs the free program at between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the Pozez Jewish Community Center of Northern Virginia, 8900 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA. Registration is required.

The program is designed for families with school-age children. Examples of volunteer opportunities are creating Valentine’s cards for youth in foster care, preparing cat adoption kits, making snack packs for food-insecure children, creating fleece lap blankets for veterans and more.

"Volunteering teaches other values that parents work so diligently to instill in their children–values such as selflessness, responsibility, and gratitude," said Volunteer Fairfax CEO Steve Mutty.
