Fairfax Vaccine Clinics Canceled On Feb. 18 Due To Winter Weather

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — With winter weather in the forecast on Thursday, the Fairfax County Health Department is canceling COVID-19 vaccine clinics on that day.

The cancellation applies to clinics at the Fairfax County Government Center and the four Health Department District office sites on Thursday, Feb. 18. Individuals with appointments on that day will receive an email about the cancellation and a link to reschedule for the upcoming week. Appointment locations may be different from the one originally scheduled.

Anyone needing assistance rescheduling their appointment can call the COVID-19 Vaccine Hotline at 703-324-7404.

Appointments for Friday, Feb. 19 are not affected at this time. Individuals who need to cancel are asked to do so 24 hours in advance using the cancellation link in the appointment confirmation email. Individuals will receive a cancel confirmation email with a link to reschedule their appointment.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather warning for Fairfax County and the region from 3 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday. Forecasters expect heavy snow with sleet and freezing rain. Snow and sleet accumulation is expected to reach 3 to 6 inches with ice accumulation from one tenth to one quarter inch. NWS expects the highest accumulation east of Interstate 95. The winter storm could begin between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. with snow, transitioning to sleet and freezing rain during the late morning and early afternoon hours.
