Featured Fairfax County Shelter Pet: Big Dog With A Big Heart
This dog came to the shelter as a stray but has a fun-loving spirit.

FAIRFAX, VA — Lady Cannonball came to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter as a stray, but that hasn't broken her spirit.
In fact, the German Shepherd is a happy girl who loves people, treats and toys. She's considered an extra large dog and needs to have plenty of exercise. Because she was a stray, Lady Cannonball may need some training, but her love of treats should help with that.

Meet Lady Cannonball! This extra large (90+ pounds) energetic girl certainly lives up to her name! She's such a happy, fun dog who loves to play with both people and toys, running around with them until she almost collapses from the excitement! She also loves taking you for walks--yes, you read that right--and she's super strong, so hold on for the ride! She's also an incredibly sweet girl who just loves getting pets and scratches and will happily roll over on her back for some belly rubs. She came to us as a stray, and it doesn't appear she's had much training so she can get jumpy and mouthy when she's excited, especially on walks. Some training and a lot of exercise should help correct those behaviors, and she's super treat motivated which should help. She's not crazy about other dogs, so she'd prefer to be the only dog in the home. But with a 90 pound, gorgeous, fun girl like her, why would you need anyone else?
