Featured Fairfax County Shelter Pets: Together Since Puppyhood
Best friends Rockie and Marley are looking for a new home together.

FAIRFAX, VA — With all of the fall activities going on, they'd be a lot more fun with a furry companion by your side. Consider starting your search for a new pet at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter, which shelters animals in need and takes in surrendered pets.
Among the available pets are Rockie and Marley, who set a high standard for the term best friends. They've been together since they were puppies and would best be adopted together. Shelter staff say they'd be better in a home without young kids, but they can get along with cats.

Rockie and Marley are best friends and they really do need to be adopted together. They've been together since they were just a couple months old, and now they're each just over three years old. Marley (golden) is the boss, and Rockie (black) is happy with that arrangement. They're crate trained, and love to sleep in bed with their person. They've not been around kids too often; Rockie is friendly but doesn't know his size, and Marley is afraid of kids, so perhaps a home with older kids (like high school aged) would be best. They have lived with a young cat and got along fine. Rockie and the cat liked to wrestle, while distinguished Marley just watched. They like to have barking matches with other dogs, so be prepared! But, once they have a slow and proper intro, they can be friends with other dogs. On walks, Rockie is the wild child, and he is known to pull and want to say hi to everyone. Marley walks nice on a leash, but does like to bark and is a little nervous of new things and people. This is quite the duo, and they're sure to fill your home with love (and their funny antics!).
