Fourth Of July 2019: What's Open, Closed In Burke
Some services will be closed Fourth of July through the rest of the week.
As families around the region celebrate Fourth of July with fireworks and cookouts, many services will take a holiday break. With Fourth of July falling on a Thursday this year, some services will be closed Friday as well.
Fairfax County government offices and libraries will be closed on Thursday, July 4 and Friday, July 5 while transit and recreation centers are open.

Here are the openings/closings to know around Independence Day in Burke:
Fairfax County government offices: Closed on July 4-5.

State courts: Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court are closed on July 4-5.
Community centers: Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) programs, activities and facilities will be closed Thursday, July 4 through Saturday, July 6. Facilities will reopen on Monday, July 8.
Fairfax Connector and Fastran: Fairfax Connector bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on July 4. Fastran will not operate on July 4-5. See www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector for more information.
Libraries: All Fairfax County libraries will be closed on July 4-5.
Metrorail: Metrorail will run on a special schedule on July 4 from 7 a.m.-11:30 p.m. Off-peak fares will be in effect and parking will be free at Metro lots and garages. Metrobus: Metrobus will operate on a Saturday schedule on July 4. Visit www.wmata.com for more details on specific routes.
Parks: Colvin Run Mill, Sully Historic Site, E.C. Lawrence, Hidden Oaks, Hidden Pond, Huntley Meadows and Green Spring Gardens are closed. Riverbend Park is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Frying Pan Farm Park is open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/holiday-hours for more information.
Post offices: Closed on July 4.
Recreation centers: Open at the regular time through 4 p.m. on July 4. George Washington RECenter is closed.
Recycling: I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road, Fairfax) and I-95 Landfill (9850 Furnace Road, Lorton) are closed on July 4.
Trash pickup: Contact county and private providers for any schedule changes.
Virginia Railway Express: VRE does not operate on July 4. For more information, visit www.vre.org.
