Lake Braddock Continues Championship Quest Saturday Against South Lakes

BURKE, VA — Entering Saturday's 1:30 p.m. 6A North Region semifinal against visiting South Lakes, Lake Braddock is 11-1 with the lone loss an 8-7 setback against Centreville Sept. 30.

South Lakes also is 11-1, with its lone loss 38-28 Oct. 28 against Hayfield.

Given that the Bruins pummeled Hayfield 42-0 last weekend in the quarterfinals, they would seem to match up fairly well against the Seahawks, although the latter did beat common opponent Centreville 22-20 a week ago.

Lake Braddock is No. 5 in the Washington Post area prep football rankings, with South Lakes No. 10.

The Bruins are led by University of Virginia recruit Lamont Atkins, who has rushed for 1,869 yards and 31 touchdowns.

Spearheading the Seahawks is quarterback Devin Miles, who has thrown for 1,758 yards and 14 touchdowns.
