Lake Braddock's Lamont Atkins Invited to All-American Bowl
The Bruins running back, who is verbally committed to the University of Virginia, was picked for the Jan. 14 event in Jacksonville, Fla.

BURKE, VA — Lake Braddock standout running back Lamont Atkins recently was invited to play in one of the three Blue-Grey All-American Bowls.
The bowls feature some of the nation's top seniors, and the rosters were filled with players who had competed in regional combines or were nominated by the Bowl's NFL veteran committee.
Atkins' bowl will be at EverBank Field (home of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars) 1 p.m. Jan. 14, and is scheduled to be aired by one of the ESPN networks.

The bowls and the combines are closely watched by college scouts although Atkins already has verbally committed to the University of Virginia.
Through nine games this season, Atkins has rushed for 1,425 yards and 22 touchdowns.

His 8-1 Bruins, No. 10 in the Washington Post area prep football rankings, visit rival South County 7 p.m. Friday.
