Lidl To Open New Springfield Store In February
The discount grocer is expanding its footprint in Northern Virginia with the upcoming opening of a Springfield location.

SPRINGFIELD, VA — Discount grocery store chain Lidl is set to open a location in Springfield on Wednesday, Feb. 19. It will be located at 6801 Commerce Street.
The store will open with a ribbon cutting at 7:40 a.m. and a weekend of special offers, giveaways and prizes. The first 100 customers will receive a gift card with a value between $5 and $100. Free samples and complimentary Lidl reusable bags will be available while supplies last.
The newly-built location is the eighth Lidl store in Northern Virginia.

This Lidl's U.S. headquarters is based in Arlington County with 90 stores in nine states on the east coast. Worldwide, Lidl has a presence in 32 countries with 11,000 stores.
Store hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Lidl will further expand its footprint when it opens a store in the former Shoppers location at 9274 Old Keene Mill Road in Burke. The Shoppers store closed after the announcement that Lidl would buy it and five other Shoppers stores in Maryland. Shoppers' parent company United Natural Foods, Inc. announced the sales and closings of numerous stores and intends to sell other stores. There is no word on when Lidl will open the Burke store.
