National Cat Day Photos: Our Favorites From Northern Virginia
It's National Cat Day, which aims to spread awareness about adoptable pets and, well, cute cat photos.

VIRGINIA — National Cat Day falls on Oct. 29, a purrfect reason to spoil your kitty or simply enjoy a snuggle. Along with encouraging cute cat photos, the holiday raises awareness about adoptable pets at local shelters.
If you don't have a companion yet, there are plenty of cats awaiting at DC area shelters and rescue groups. According to the ASPCA, 3.2 million cats enter shelters each year; about half of these are adopted. Use ASPCA's adoptable cat finder to locate pets near your zip code.
And now the moment you've been waiting for: cat photos. We asked readers to submit photos of their feline friends, and you responded in a huge way. Here are some of the photo submissions from Patch readers in Northern Virginia.
