Oath Of Office Ceremony Set For Fairfax County Supervisors
Local officials will take an oath of office in December and will assume their positions in 2020.

FAIRFAX, VA — Candidates who won Fairfax County positions in the Nov. 5 general election are set to take oath of office in a ceremony. The county has scheduled the ceremony for Monday, Dec. 16 at 6 p.m. in the Government Center forum. All are welcome to attend a reception at 5 p.m. followed by the ceremony.
Elected officials taking oath of office include 10 Board of Supervisors members, sheriff, commonwealth's attorney and Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District directors. These officials will take office on Jan. 1, 2020.
According to unofficial election results, Jeff McKay will succeed Sharon Bulova as chairman. New supervisors include James Walkinshaw as Braddock District supervisor; Walter Alcorn as Hunter Mill District supervisor; Rodney Lusk as Lee District supervisor; and Dalia Palchik as Providence District supervisor. Returning supervisors include John Foust in the Dranesville District; Penny Gross in the Mason District; Dan Storck in the Mount Vernon District; Pat Herrity in the Springfield District and Kathy Smith in the Sully District.

Steve Descano will become commonwealth's attorney for Fairfax County after ousting incumbent Ray Morrogh in the June primary. Sheriff Stacey Kincaid was reelected to her position.
Fairfax County residents can take note of the next election deadlines. The 2020 presidential primary election, or "Super Tuesday," is schedule for March 3, 2020. Absentee voting will begin on Jan. 17, 2020, and the voter registration deadline for the primary is Feb. 10, 2020.
