Registration Open for In-Person Summer Camp at St. Stephen's

This year's offering of faith-based camps at St. Stephen's includes a Bible Music Camp, a Bible Sports Camp and two Vacation Bible Schools

St. Stephen’s Family and Children’s Ministry at St. Stephen's United Methodist Church in Burke, Va., is pleased to announce that this year’s St. Stephen’s Church Summer Camp will be an in-person event. The first camp starts June 14 and the final camp ends July 16th.

Registration has begun! Click here to sign up today.

The camp will offer in-person summer programs for children ages four-year-old through those campers who are rising sixth-graders. As we continue to remain cautious in light of the pandemic, the number of campers in each session is lower than it has been in previous years. The length of our camp days range from one-and-a-half hours to three hours. All of our camps are fun, educational and faith-based.

This year’s offering of faith-based camps at St. Stephen’s includes a Bible Music Camp, a Bible Sports Camp and two Vacation Bible Schools, (a regular and a mini!) Visit our camp page for a complete session listing and description of all the camps. Indoor and outdoor offerings

Some of our camps this year are entirely outdoor while others will be a hybrid of indoor and outdoor. With one exception, all of our camps will be held on our spacious church campus in at 9203 Braddock Road, Burke, Va., 22015. The Bible Sports Camp will take place at a nearby park.

All campers, volunteers and leaders will be required to follow our Healthy Church Team guidelines at all times. Those guidelines include but may not be limited to : wearing a mask for the entire program; maintaining proper social-distancing and undergoing a daily health check-in that includes a temperature reading.

You can register by visiting Summer Camp Registration. If you need any assistance registering or do not have access to the internet, please call the St. Stephen’s Church office at 703-978-8724 and one of our staff will gladly assist you.

Before registering your child for any of our summer camps, please be aware of the following :

  • All of our programs have a limited number of spots. This summer, the length of our camp days range from one-and-a-half hours to three hours, a slightly shorter day than in previous years.
  • All participants should follow St. Stephen’s health and safety guidelines, which include, but are not limited to: wearing a mask for the entire program, social-distancing, having a daily check-in procedure such as a temp check, etc.
  • There are no snacks shared at any program. Participants may bring their own bottled water to the program. Make sure to label with your child’s name.

Due to inclement weather, it is possible an outdoor camp could be moved indoors or in an extreme event, canceled.

Please note : We currently are considering also offering an At-Home Vacation Bible School as our regular VBS is smaller than usual. As registration progresses, we will offer more information on a possible virtual VBS in April.

Partial scholarships : Partial scholarships are available on a case-by-case basis for all camps. Requests for scholarship assistance are made through the registration process online and are sent directly to Pastor Jiyeon Kim, who heads our the St. Stephen’s Children and Family Ministry.

Volunteers : As always, volunteers are an important part of the St. Stephen’s Summer Camp. If you are interested in helping out at one or more of our camps, you can sign up to volunteer on the camper registration form or you can contact the church office at 703-978-8724. Thank you ahead of time for your help!
