Renovated Ice Cream Parlor Open At Burke Lake Park

BURKE, VA — As families head to Burke Lake Park to enjoy spring season, the ice cream parlor is back with a renovated look, according to the Fairfax County Park Authority.

The ice cream parlor has been the cherry on top for Burke Lake Park visitors in between activities like the riding carousel and miniature train. According to Brian Costello, vice president of Jay Vending Company, the parlor was completely renovated with new ice cream equipment, new flooring and paint, new countertop sneeze guard and facade, new tables and chairs, and new trash cans.

The menu is also new, featuring chocolate and caramel ice cream sundaes, as well as coffee. It is also in the process of adding pizza to the menu. Other menu items include milkshakes, root beer floats, cherry or blue raspberry slushies, all-beef hot dogs, soda, bottled water, juice boxes, and of course, eight flavors of ice cream.

Another evident change is a new theme for the ice cream parlor. The facility features a locomotive theme along with a miniature train that runs along the perimeter of the ceiling. Costello said the train theme was chosen since many ice cream parlor customers are families with young children who ride the park's miniature train.

The ice cream parlor is open weekends only in April, May, September and October from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Weekday hours are 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
