Robinson, West Springfield Students To Host Gun Safety Town Hall
Rep. Gerry Connolly will attend the student town hall with a discussion on addressing gun violence.

FAIRFAX, VA—Residents are invited to a town hall discussing gun violence and how legislators should respond to the issue. It will be held Tuesday, May 1 from 7 p.m.-8 p.m. at the Providence District Office and Community Center, 3001 Vaden Drive, Fairfax.
Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-11th district) will attend and take questions from the audience. Hosts include students from Robinson, Woodson, West Springfield, Madison, and Gar-Field High Schools. Students Demand Action and the Youth Initiative for National Action will make presentations.
The town hall is the latest effort students have undertaken since the Feb. 14 Parkland shooting that killed 17 people. Students around Northern Virginia and the country participated in walkouts, joined the March for Our Lives in DC and contacted legislators to demand action.

At the forum, residents can express their opinions about gun control and school safety. Student organizers are calling for a ban on "assault" type weapons like the AR-15 and high-capacity magazines and mandatory background checks.
Space is limited. Register for the town hall here or call 703-256-3071.
