Shenandoah Run Folk Ensemble Saturday in Burke

D.C.-based band will offer a cure for sick-of-Halloween-itis during secular concert at Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church.

BURKE, VA — Already starting get a wee bit tired of Halloween? Feeling a bit miffed that seemingly all the weekend events have something to do with trick or treating or scary music or both?

Here's one alternative: Shenandoah Run, a D.C.-based folk ensemble that plays everything from traditional folk to funky folk to bluegrass to Irish.

The secular event is 7:30 p.m. at Accotink Unitarian Universalist Church at 10125 Lakehaven Court.

Tickets are $15 to see the group that plays all over the D.C. area.

On its website, Shenandoah Run's music is described as such: "They showcase the spirited sounds of Americana, along with the occasional country, bluegrass or Irish tune, and deliver a rousing mix of music and styles. Their vocal and instrumental savvy, coupled with a strong desire to keep folk music alive and fresh, are key to the group’s success."
